How it works

Designed From Patient Experience

After years of helping patients with manual cold capping, Wishcaps recognized one of the biggest barriers: many systems were difficult to manage without assistance. We used that experience to develop our own cold caps with a simpler application process designed to give patients greater independence during treatment.

  • No Paid Capper Required
  • Help Welcome, Never Required

Manageable on your own

More than 95% of Wishcaps patients manage their treatments without a paid capper or dedicated assistant.

Prefer a helping hand?

You're always welcome to have a family member or friend assist you. The difference is that assistance is not required by the Wishcaps system.

How scalp cooling works

Cooling the scalp narrows blood vessels near the surface, which may reduce how much chemotherapy medication reaches hair follicles during treatment.

Your treatment-day timeline

A simple, step-by-step routine you can follow on your own.

Preparation

Pack your kit with approximately 50–60 lbs. of dry ice, per your instructions.

Pre-cooling

Begin cooling shortly before infusion starts, per your confirmed protocol.

During infusion

Change your own caps on a timed rotation using your thermometer and timer.

Post-cooling

Continue cooling for the confirmed post-treatment window.

Packing up

Return caps for cleaning and prepare for your next round.

Begin cooling shortly before infusion starts, and continue through the recommended post-treatment window, following your provider's protocol.

Changing your caps

Wishcaps cold caps were designed to simplify the application process, so changing caps is something most patients do by themselves.

Who should ask their oncology team

Scalp cooling is not appropriate for every diagnosis or treatment plan. Talk with your oncology team about your specific regimen, any scalp-related conditions, and whether scalp cooling fits your care plan before you order.

What to expect

Some shedding is common even with scalp cooling, and results vary by chemotherapy regimen and individual factors. Results are not guaranteed.

Individual results vary. Hair retention can be affected by chemotherapy regimen, dosage, treatment schedule, individual response, and other factors.
