Consult Your Oncology Team
Discuss scalp cooling with your oncologist or other qualified member of your treatment team before ordering or using Wishcaps. Your oncology team must determine whether scalp cooling is appropriate in light of your diagnosis, chemotherapy regimen, dosage, treatment schedule, medical history, scalp condition, and treatment-center requirements.
Not Appropriate for Every Patient
Scalp cooling may be unsuitable or medically inadvisable for some patients, diagnoses, treatment regimens, or circumstances. Do not begin, continue, stop, delay, or alter chemotherapy or other medical care based on information from Wishcaps or this website.
Results Vary
Hair retention is not guaranteed. Some shedding or substantial hair loss may occur even when the instructions are followed. Results may be affected by chemotherapy medications, dosage, infusion schedule, individual response, cap fit, starting temperature, cap-changing technique, dry-ice preparation, hair characteristics, prior treatment, and protocol adherence.
Testimonials, photographs, patient stories, and patient-reported success rates describe individual or aggregated experiences. They do not predict what will happen for a particular patient and are not a substitute for clinical evidence or professional advice.
Starting After Treatment Has Begun
Beginning scalp cooling after chemotherapy has started is generally not recommended because scalp cooling cannot prevent hair-follicle damage from treatments already received. Patients who begin later may still experience positive results, but the probability of significant shedding or hair loss may be higher.
Equipment and Dry Ice Safety
Use the Wishcaps kit only for its intended purpose and follow the current instructions supplied with the kit. Dry ice and very cold caps can cause cold burns, skin injury, discomfort, or other harm if handled or applied improperly. Use appropriate protective gloves, follow temperature and timing instructions, and stop using the equipment and contact your healthcare team if you experience a concerning symptom or reaction.
No Emergency or Clinical Service
Wishcaps telephone, email, website forms, and support channels are not monitored as emergency medical services. For a medical emergency, call 911 or seek emergency care. Direct urgent symptoms, treatment reactions, medication questions, or decisions about continuing scalp cooling to your oncology team.
Treatment Center Rules
A treatment center may restrict or decline use of outside cold-cap equipment. The patient is responsible for obtaining any required approval and following facility rules. Listing a treatment center on the Wishcaps website means only that a Wishcaps patient has reported receiving care there; it does not imply endorsement, partnership, or formal affiliation.
External Information
Links to medical organizations, treatment centers, suppliers, research, or other third-party sources are provided for convenience.
